A dentist in Woodbury, Minn., was denied a request to reinstate his license by the state appeals court, according to a Jan. 3 report from The Minnesota Star Tribune.
Marko Kamel, DDS, was the owner of Woodbury (Minn.) Dental Arts, which closed in March. Dr. Kamel filed for bankruptcy March 22. The Minnesota Board of Dentistry suspended Dr. Kamel's license and said he was not authorized to practice dentistry in the state.
In its Dec. 23 ruling, the appeals court said that it had no reason to overturn the decision of the administrative law judge who oversaw the hearing in March that led to Dr. Kamel's suspension.
During his appeal, Dr. Kamel claimed that the administrative judge's ruling was not supported by evidence.
Woodbury Dental Arts is being sued by multiple creditors for more than $2 million. Dr. Kamel said in March that he closed the clinic because it "ran out of money."
Dr. Kamel is reported to be working in California, where he has been licensed to practice dentistry since 2016, the report said.
