The Florida Cabinet voted to allocate $1 million in funding for dental programs designed for veterans, according to a Dec. 17 news release.
The vote implements the rules related to House Bill 635, which requires the state to contract with a direct-support organization to administer the program.
The bill emphasizes the link between good oral health and overall well-being.
According to The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, only 15% of veterans are eligible to access dental services through the VA.
The bill passed the Florida State Senate and House with a unanimous vote.
