Venture capital deals in the oral health industry have surpassed a total of $400 million so far in 2024, according to an Oct. 15 report by CareQuest Innovation Partners.
Here are eight things to know:
1. A total of 59 venture capital deals in oral health have been executed this year, as of Aug. 26, with a total value of $400.2 million.
2. 2023 saw 119 deals worth a total $493.5 million.
3. 2021 saw the most deals and total value since 2013, when 187 deals were done for a total of more than $1.3 billion.
4. Before 2024, at least 100 deals had been made in oral health every year from 2018 to 2023.
5. 2014 saw no more than 60 total deals.
6. Venture capital invested in oral health since 2013 totals more than $6 billion.
7. More than 1,300 venture capital deals have been made in the oral health sector since 2013.
8. Venture capital invested in 2024 year to date is less than 1% of all venture capital invested in overall health worldwide.
