Oral surgery headlines to know from Q3

Here are eight updates on the oral surgery space to know that Becker's reported on during the third quarter of 2024:

1. Frisco, Texas-based Stonebriar Facial and Oral Surgery opened a second location in McKinney, Texas.

2. An oral surgeon in New Hampshire closed his practice after providing care for more than 34 years.

3. Irving, Texas-based U.S. Oral Surgery Management added five surgeons to its practices: Reed Turpin, DDS; Jassel Fernandez, DDS; Tyler Hill, DDS; Sandy Ha, DDS, MD; and Jacob Taylor, DMD, MD. 

4. Sohail Malad joined St. Louis-based Oral Surgery Partners as its new CEO.

5. Hackensack, N.J.-based Max Surgical Specialty Management hired Brian Lawson to be its senior vice president of business development. 

6. U.S. Oral Surgery Management received the Association for DSO's 2024 Emerging Award. 

7. New Jersey Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery was hit with a data breach involving patient information.

8. Oral surgery leaders are paying close attention to emerging cybersecurity threats in the wake of an industry warning from the FBI.
