California ballot measure could increase Medi-Cal dental budget by 10%: 4 notes

The California Dental Association is urging dentists to vote "yes" on a ballot measure that could help increase funding for the Medi-Cal dental budget.

Four notes:

1. Proposition 35 would cement an existing tax on managed health care insurance plans to provide revenue for Medi-Cal healthcare services.

2. The California Dental Association said the ballot measure would increase the Medi-Cal dental budget by at least 10%, or $300 million annually, to support several initiatives, including improved reimbursement rates and increased funding for workforce development.

3. The measure could also bring in up to $10 million annually for dental student loan repayments, according to an Oct. 9 news release.

4. Proposition 35 will appear on the November General Election ballot.
