Unlicensed dentistry cases on the rise: 6 updates

Instances of individuals performing unlicensed dental services have become more common in the industry.

Here are six updates and headlines on unlicensed dentistry, as reported by Becker's since Sept. 12:

1. Police are searching for a woman from Katy, Texas, who was charged with practicing dentistry without a license.

2. A Phoenix woman pleaded guilty to performing dental procedures without an Arizona license.

3. The North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners is receiving more complaints concerning veneer technicians providing dental services.

4. The Illinois State Dental Society and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations launched a campaign to educate residents about the risks associated with unlicensed dentistry. 

5. A 37-year-old Texas woman was arrested on charges of running an illegal dental practice out of her home.

6. A woman in Round Lake, Ill., was charged with two counts of practicing medicine without a license.
