Illinois dental practice closes after 123 years of operating

A dental practice in Dixon, Ill., has closed after being in operation for 123 years, according to a Sept. 29 report by saukvalley.com.

Eight different dentists kept the practice open since it was started in 1901 by Dr. Willard Worsley.

Kim Brokaw, DDS, and Mark German, DDS, the dentists who are now running the practice, have retired after working together for 21 years.

Dental assistant and receptionist Magdalene Ulferts worked at the practice for more than 50 years, helping transition the practice between dentists.

The practice relocated to its current location in 1985 after the building it operated out of had to be removed due to a street expansion project, the report said.
