A woman in Round Lake, Ill., has been charged with two counts of practicing medicine without a license and five counts of computer tampering, according to a Sept. 12 report by the Northwest Herald.
Between December 2022 and January 2024, Lizbeth Sanchez allegedly performed dental services without a license, advertising for and performing prescription-grade teeth whitening services while not under direct supervision, according to a criminal complaint filed by McHenry police.
In addition, between February 2017 and January 2024, Ms. Sanchez allegedly installed a program to the computer system at the dental practice where she worked without permission. She is accused of remotely using the program to change employment records, as well as making accounting reductions to her family's customer account and ordering unauthorized medical supplies.
Ms. Sanchez allegedly used the computer program while employed at a dental practice in Bull Valley, Ill., but performed teeth whitening services after leaving the practice at another location.
The unlicensed medicine charges are Class 4 felonies, which are punishable by up to three years in prison, plus fines.
Ms. Sanchez turned herself in at the McHenry police station on Sept. 10, the report said.
