Indiana woman accused of stealing from orthodontics company

The Indiana State Police arrested a woman accused of stealing thousands of dollars from her employer, Batesville, Ind.-based Scheele Orthodontics, according to an Aug. 16 report by FOX 59.

The ISP launched an investigation in August 2023 after Scheele Orthodontics contacted authorities because a number of patient payments were "missing and unaccounted for."

The investigation found that Jennifer Fullenkamp, also of Batesville, was alleged to have stolen thousands of dollars over the course of several years, by allegedly telling patients they would receive a discount if they paid in cash. When patients did pay in cash, Ms. Fullenkamp allegedly would pocket the money.

According to the police, Ms. Fullenkamp hid the action from the company by altering computer records.

Ms. Fullenkamp was arrested Aug. 23 on charges of theft and corrupt business influence, both of which are Level 5 felonies, the report said.
