A Kentucky dentist recently had his license suspended after he was arrested in connection to the murder of a woman last month, WYMT reported Aug. 2.
Michael McKinney Jr., DMD, practiced at Floyd County Smiles in Minnie and Prestonsburg, Ky. He was arrested July 30 and charged with seven counts of complicity to tampering with physical evidence in connection to the 2023 murder of Amber Spradlin. Dr. McKinney pleaded not guilty to the charges July 31, the Appalachian News-Express reported.
After the arrest, the Kentucky Board of Dentistry announced it was launching its own investigation against Dr. McKinney regarding his "competency to practice," and issued an immediate temporary suspension of his license.
Dr. McKinney is required to make arrangements to refer dental patients and place a written notice in his dental offices, according to a letter sent to the dentist from the state dental board.
Dr. McKinney can appeal the decision by Aug. 22, but a request for a hearing will not change the suspension order, WYMT reported.
