The Washington Dental Quality Assurance Commission and Burke Jardin, DMD, entered into an agreed order that restrains Dr. Jardin's dentist license and moderate sedation with parenteral agents permit.
Between October 2017 and August 2023, Dr. Jardin failed to adequately and accurately assess patient risk factors, administered a general anesthetic, administered medications in a timeframe that likely resulted in a level beyond moderate sedation and failed to monitor and document all required vital signs during patients' procedures, according to an Aug. 1 news release.
Dr. Jardin is required to pay a $50,000 fine and reimburse costs of $10,000, must pass a jurisprudence exam, permit an investigator conduct a drug inspection, allow for up to four unannounced audits for two years, and pass an ethics exam.
In addition, Dr. Jardin is permanently prohibited from extracting wisdom teeth, the release said.
Dr. Jardin is a dentist in Battle Ground, Wash.
