Some Alabama dentists are concerned about a proposed rule that could limit where Botox is administered on patients, WBRC reported June 10.
Four notes:
1. Dentists practicing in Alabama are allowed to administer Botox, but the proposed rule would limit the areas where these injections can be made on the face to places adjacent to the mouth.
2. WBRC reported that several dentists expressed their opposition to the proposal during a Alabama Board of Dental Examiners meeting June 7.
3. Robin Pruitt Jr., DMD, opposed the rule during the meeting and questioned why the rule was proposed despite the state dental board not receiving complaints about Botox injections by dentists in the past.
4. The Alabama Board of Dental Examiners is accepting public comments on the proposed rule until July 5.
