Inspire Dental of San Antonio claims its operations are at risk due to a lack of air conditioning, construction issues, and code violations at its building, CBS affiliate KENS 5 reported June 5.
Eight notes:
1. Inspire Dental provides comprehensive dental services, including those for patients with disabilities and special needs.
2. André Jones, DDS, told KENS 5 his office has not had air conditioning or heat since December.
3. Several states in the Southern and Western regions are currently experiencing an extreme heat wave that has led officials to issue warnings and open cooling centers.
4. Dr. Jones said the dental office's temperature dropped to 30 degrees during the winter and that the office has been dealing with high temperatures recently, which could potentially affect equipment.
5. The office reportedly informed the property owners of these issues but has not gotten a response.
6. CentroMed, a nonprofit healthcare provider, reportedly bought the building two years ago and started renovating the building in November.
7. Inspire Dental shared photos and videos with KENS 5 showing debris hanging from parts of the ceiling, dust coating the office, and loud construction noise.
8. Dr. Jones said the construction has also affected their ability to provide care because the practice treats many patients with sensory issues. Elevators and stairwells have also been closed, affecting accessibility.
Becker's has contacted CentroMed for comment and will update this story once more information has become available.
