A pediatric dental practice in Arizona is improving its safety practices after a former employee was arrested on multiple charges of child sex crimes, according to a May 29 report by FOX 10 Phoenix.
Kidiatric Dental and Orthodontics, which has locations in Chandler, Ariz., and Gilbert, Ariz., is implementing additional safety measures, including requiring parents or adult caregivers to be present with their child during X-rays, creating an easier process for parents, patients and staff to make anonymous reports, and running background checks on existing employees each year.
Deion Garcia, a former dental assistant at the practice, was charged earlier this month with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and five charges of molestation of a child. He pleaded not guilty earlier this week.
Mr. Garcia was fired by the practice immediately following the allegations, the report said.
