Gordon Isbell, DMD, testified before a U.S. Senate committee on the problems related to the access and delivery of oral healthcare.
Dr. Isbell is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, which supports four initiatives that could help ease dental problems across the country:
- Supporting an increased dental workforce through the Action on Dental Health Act.
- Promoting relationships between dentists and dental insurance providers through the Dental and Optometric Care Access Act.
- Including the Academy of General Dentistry as an approved provider of opioid training under the Medication Access and Training Expansion Act.
- Encouraging oral health literacy through the Oral Health Literacy Act.
During his testimony before the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, Dr. Isbell campaigned for the strengthening of the private practice of dentistry, as well as the need to reduce inequities in access to dental care.
