An Iowa dentist accused of sexual misconduct has surrendered his license, the Iowa Capital Dispatch reported March 26.
Calvin Weber, DDS, had his license suspended in January over charges of "improper sexual contact with or making lewd, lascivious or improper remarks or advances to a patient." The Iowa Dental Board suspended his license on an emergency basis after deeming Dr. Weber "an imminent threat to public safety."
Dr. Weber, who was first licensed by the state in 1983, has a history of alleged misconduct with female patients, the Iowa Capital Dispatch reported. This is his second time surrendering his license after alleged misconduct.
He was accused of sexual misconduct involving several patients in 1993. The board then suspended Dr. Weber’s license indefinitely and ordered him to undergo a psychiatric evaluation within 60 days. Dr. Weber agreed to surrender his license several months later after the board accused him of failing to submit an evaluation.
Dr. Weber later submitted to an evaluation in 2006 and agreed to undergo therapy, afterwhich the state dental board agreed to reinstate his dental license.
