Lawrence Duffy, DMD, a dentist in Florida, agreed to voluntarily relinquish his dental license following using general anesthesia without a permit.
In 2019, Dr. Duffy failed to record the route of administration, dosage, time and sequence of a general anesthetic drug while treating a patient and failed to document the patient's status upon discharge, according to an order from the Florida Department of Health.
Prior to administering general anesthesia and/or deep sedation, Dr. Duffy did not obtain the proper permit.
As part of the surrender of his license, Dr. Duffy agreed to cease practicing as a dentist in Florida and to never reapply for licensure in the state, the order said.
