Legislation has been introduced in the Senate to reauthorize the CDC's Oral Health program for five years.
The program, which receives $20.5 million annually that is allocated to 20 states, supports dental education, data collection and workforce development, according to a Jan. 17 news release from Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin's office.
The American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and National Association of Chronic Disease Directors have endorsed the legislation, called the Promoting Dental Health Act.
The legislation was introduced by Mr. Durbin and Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall, the release said.
