1. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp proposed putting $178 million toward construction of a dental school at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.
2. The Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine's main dental clinic temporarily closed following flooding.
3. The New York City-based NYU College of Dentistry is launching a Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene with a concentration in dental science.
4. Muhammad Ali Shazib, DMD, was appointed dean of High Point (N.C.) University's new Workman School of Dental Medicine.
5. University of Rochester (N.Y.) appointed David Linehan, MD, as dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry.
6. The University of Utah School of Dentistry is creating an admissions program to increase the number of dentists in rural communities.
