Pennsylvania had a negative net migration of new dentists from 2019 to 2022, with a net migration rate of -9%, according to the American Dental Association.
The ADA classified new dentists as dentists who had less than 10 years of experience in 2019 and who were still active in 2022.

- There were 1,743 new dentists in Pennsylvania in 2019, and 1,406 (80.7%) remained in the state in 2022.
- Pennsylvania had 1,587 new dentists in 2022, creating a net migration loss of 156 new dentists.
- There were 181 new dentists who entered Pennsylvania between 2019 and 2022 and 337 who left.
- The top inbound state from which new dentists entered Pennsylvania was New York, bringing in 24 new dentists.
- New Jersey was the top outbound state for new Pennsylvania dentists, drawing 51 new dentists away.
