Ohio had a negative net migration of new dentists from 2019 to 2022, with a net migration rate of -6.6%, according to the American Dental Association.
The ADA classified new dentists as dentists who had less than 10 years of experience in 2019 and who were still active in 2022.
Here are five additional notes:
1. There were 1,540 new dentists in Ohio in 2019, and 1,282 (83.2%) remained in the state in 2022.
2. Ohio had 1,438 new dentists in 2022, creating a net migration loss of 102 new dentists.
3. There were 156 new dentists who entered Ohio between 2019 and 2022 and 258 who left.
4. The top inbound states from which new dentists entered Ohio were New York and Michigan, each bringing in 13 new dentists.
5. Florida was the top outbound state for new Ohio dentists, drawing 24 new dentists away.
