The Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton has increased police presence and added extra security measures after receiving a telephone threat, the Edwardsville Intelligencer reported Dec. 6.
The school received the threat on the morning of Dec. 6. An emergency notification alerting of the threat and heightened security was posted to the school's site in the afternoon.
"The university has alerted the campus community and modified operations,” a spokesperson for the school told the news organization. "A heightened police presence and additional security measures are in place until the issue is resolved. Campus staff, students, patients and visitors have been instructed to watch their surroundings and to report suspicious behavior."
