Delta Dental of Rhode Island and the Samuels Sinclair Dental Center at Rhode Island Hospital have teamed up to create the first oral residency program in Rhode Island.
The four-year oral and maxillofacial oral surgery program aims to increase the number of practicing oral surgeons, according to a Nov. 14 news release from Delta Dental.
Two residents will be selected each year and will support multiple full-time clinical, administrative and programmatic roles at the hospital.
The program is currently in the planning stages and is expected to be up and running within the next three years.
The dental center sees more than 18,500 patient visits each year, the release said.
