A Florida dentist and her husband were recently arrested and accused of participating in a Medicaid fraud scheme.
Marianna Zadov, DDS, and Shimon Leizgold co-own and operate at least seven dental offices in the state, according to a Nov. 3 news release from the state's office of the attorney general.
According to the attorney general's investigation, Dr. Zadov and Mr. Leizgold allegedly overcharged patients with fraudulent fees for dental services covered by Medicaid and collected payments from Medicaid for services that were not provided. The scheme allegedly encompassed more than $1.5 million worth of fraud and more than 5,000 Medicaid recipients.
Dr. Zadov and Mr. Leizgold are each charged with one count of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act, conspiracy to commit RICO Act violations, grand theft, Medicaid fraud and Medicaid fraud as a third-degree felony.
The couple is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail on $1.04 million bond, bocanewsnow.com reported Nov. 4.
