Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences received $12 million in grant funding from Delta Dental of Washington for its upcoming dental school in Yakima, Wash.
The school will train 36 dental students each year, focusing on providing dental care to rural and underserved communities, according to an Oct. 25 joint news release from Delta Dental of Washington and the university.
Students will receive one year of on-campus training before spending the following three years in a federally qualified health center.
In addition to Delta Dental's pledged $12 million, the university has secured $5 million in state funding, the release said.
The university broke ground on the school earlier in October with plans to open to students in fall 2025.
