Here are two dental industry updates in Nebraska that Becker's has reported on since Aug. 11:
1. The Nebraska Legislature is weighing potentially joining the dentists and dental hygienist compact. The compact makes it easier for dental professionals with a license from a participating state to get a license to practice in other states that are part of the agreement.
Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Minnesota and Kansas have introduced legislation to join the compact, while Iowa, Tennessee and Washington have already joined.
2. Legislators are working to raise Medicaid reimbursement rates for dentists again after a slight raise this year. Sen. Lynne Walz introduced a bill in January to increase dental reimbursements under the Medical Assistance Act by 25 percent, a move that would cost the state about $6 million. The bill can be brought up for debate during the 2024 session.
