The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in Oklahoma City introduced the state's first pediatric dentistry residency program.
The two-year program will be integrated into Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health, according to a Sept. 5 news release. Residents will work under the direction of dental faculty and will collaborate with physicians to provide comprehensive dental care.
The new program is part of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center's goals to expand access to care, reduce health disparities and increase the state's dental workforce.
David Ciesla, DDS, will serve as director of the new program, which will begin in July.
