The Hawaii Dental Association Foundation recently established a disaster relief fund to support dentists affected by the Maui wildfires.
Hawaii Dental Association President Norman Chun, DMD, said in a letter to George Shepley, DDS, president of the American Dental Association, that dentists specifically in Lahaina were most affected by the wildfires.
The fund was launched with a $50,000 donation from the Hawaii Dental Association and has grown with additional donations. The money will be used to aid affected dentists, with priority given to ADA members, according to an Aug. 23 news release. The foundation will also keep the fund going to provide relief for future disasters.
