Idaho has the highest net migration rate for dentists of all experience levels, according to data from the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute.
The data looked at the number of professionally active U.S. dentists in 2019 and 2022, comparing the number who left and entered the state.
Here are the states that had a positive net migration with the percentage increase from the 2019 dentist count:
Idaho: 7.6 percent
South Dakota: 7.2 percent
New Hampshire: 7.1 percent
Delaware: 5.5 percent
Utah: 4.6 percent
Arizona: 4.2 percent
Montana: 4 percent
North Carolina: 2.9 percent
Arkansas: 2.7 percent
Florida: 2.7 percent
Georgia: 2.6 percent
Tennessee: 2.5 percent
Hawaii: 1.9 percent
Washington: 1.8 percent
South Carolina: 1.3 percent
New Jersey: 1.2 percent
Virginia: 1 percent
Kansas: 0.8 percent
Alabama: 0.7 percent
Colorado: 0.6 percent
Texas: 0.6 percent
North Dakota: 0.6 percent
Alaska: 0.4 percent
Minnesota: 0.2 percent
