Fresno (Calif.) City College will begin offering a dental hygiene bachelor's degree program in fall 2024, according to a July 12 report by The Fresno Bee.
The college has had an associate degree program in dental hygiene for more than 40 years. The associate program required 107 credits, while the new bachelor program will involve 120.
While the baseline requirement to become a licensed dental hygienist is an associate degree, more students are pursuing a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene, according to data from the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.
Fresno City College plans to open applications for its bachelor's degree program in spring 2024 and will have about 30 spots available.
The four-year program will cost a total of $10,000, the report said.
