Thirteen percent of dentists are affiliated with a DSO, according to May data from the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute.
The ADA Health Policy Institute Dental Office Database is based on all practicing dentists in the U.S. that HPI can assign at least one practice location address. It includes analysis of 191,669 out of 202,401 practicing dentists in the U.S. Read more about the methodology here.

1. Twenty-three percent of dentists who are up to 10 years out of dental school are affiliated with a DSO.
2. Eleven percent of dentists who are 11 to 25 years out of dental school are affiliated with a DSO.
3. Seven percent of dentists who are more than 25 years out of dental school are affiliated with a DSO.
4. Fifteen percent of female dentists are affiliated with DSOs, compared to 12 percent of male dentists.
5. Twenty-three percent of dentists in Nevada are affiliated with DSOs, the state with the highest rate of affiliation.
6. Two percent of dentists in Alaska are affiliated with DSOs, the state with the lowest rate of affiliation.
