Washington Gov. Jay Inslee signed a bill into law that removes regulatory barriers for dental schools in the state in an effort to recruit faculty from out-of-state, according to an April 18 report by Columbia Basin Herald.
The bill allows Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Wash., to request a temporary license for out-of-state faculty, the report said.
Under the current law, dental schools in other areas of the state can provide a similar temporary license. The new bill creates more consistency in the way Washington dental schools can recruit faculty.
Washington Sen. Judy Warnick sponsored the bill, the report said.
