The American Dental Association recently wrote a letter to Congress March 28 asking for more funding and resources to support the Department of Veterans Affairs Dentistry.
ADA President George Shepley, DDS, and Executive Director Raymond Cohlmia, DDS, requested Congress provide $1.25 billion in funding to the department, which is $50 million more than the fiscal year 2023.
The two execs said the additional funding is necessary to match the increase in veterans eligible for VA dental benefits.
The letter also asked that Congress establish the Assistant Under Secretary for Health for Dentistry role as being on the same level as other Assistant Under Secretaries in the department and report directly to the Under Secretary.
