Three dental practices recently closed and left patients unable to receive treatment, with one office reopening in February.
More details:
1. An Affordable Dentures & Implants office in South Burlington, Vt., closed suddenly, leaving patients unable to receive treatment, mychamplainvalley.com reported March 10. The Vermont State Attorney General's office told the news station that it is aware of the complaints and is looking into the office. Affordable Dentures & Implants said the practice, owned by Stephen Bench, DDS, vacated the office and that patients can call 1-800-DENTURE for additional assistance with their continuation of care.
2. Patients of Gutierrez Orthodontics in Tampa, Fla., claimed their dentist was not responding to requests to complete outstanding procedures, NBC affiliate WFLA reported March 6. A note was placed on the front door of the practice advising patients that the office will be closed for three weeks and that the practice is "doing an update to the system," according to WFLA. However, patients told WFLA the note has been on the door for more than three weeks.
3. Baton Rouge, La.-based Esthetic Associates closed without notice, CBS affiliate WAFB reported Feb. 2. The news organization reported Feb. 7 that the practice had reopened, with Tyler Lasseigne, DDS, telling the news station that he had minor surgery at the end of December and was out recovering.
