The Washington Senate recently passed a bill to ease licensure requirements for faculty joining dental schools from out of state, NBC Right Now reported Feb. 23.
Dental schools in the state can provide waivers to prospective out-of-state faculty, but SB5113 would allow accredited dental schools to request temporary licensure for out-of-state faculty who have accepted employment at their schools. The temporary licensure would need to be approved by the Washington State Dental Quality Assurance Commission, according to a Feb. 22 news release from Sen. Judy Warnick, who sponsored the legislation.
The bill was passed unanimously and now heads to the state House for consideration.
