A Kentucky dentist appointed dean of a new dental school and six other dentists who have made headlines since Sept. 28:
1. Preston Harris, DDS, is leading a new Affordable Dentures & Implants location opened by Morrisville, N.C.-based Affordable Care in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
2. Omar Guesmia, DDS, will pay $60,000 to resolve allegations that he and his practice, Gentle Dental Care in Phoenix, N.Y., violated the Controlled Substances Act by allegedly enabling staff to obtain oxycodone for personal use.
3. Three dentist leaders were added to Quip's dental advisory board.
4. Pamela Sparks-Stein, DMD, was appointed dean of the University of Pikeville's (Ky.) upcoming College of Dental Health.
5. Angelina Franklin, DDS, shared with Becker's why she expects to see a rise in boutique dentistry.
