Dover, N.J.-based Zufall Health became the first federally qualified health center to have graduates from its community dental health coordinator program.
Community dental health coordinators are usually trained at community colleges using an online curriculum developed by the American Dental Association, according to a Sept. 21 news release.
The main responsibilities of community dental health coordinators involve educating and directing patients to proper dental services to improve overall oral health.
The program lasted 12 months and was taught by Sam Wakim, DMD, the chief dental officer of Zufall Health.
