Three new dental schools are in various stages of development in Tennessee, Missouri and Florida.

1. Harrogate, Tenn.-based Lincoln Memorial University is opening a dental school in Knoxville this month. It will be the state's third dental school and will work to address a shortage of dental professionals.
2. Joplin, Mo.-based Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences announced plans to build a dental school in 2019. It has received several donations and grants since, including a $3 million donation from the Joplin Regional Medical School Alliance and a $1.5 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration. The school will open in Joplin next year.
3. Lake Worth, Fla.-based Palm Beach State College plans to break ground on its new dental school at its Loxahatchee Groves campus this fall. The new school, which is expected to cost more than $50 million, will be 84,000 square feet and include labs, classrooms and administrative offices.
