The California Legislature allocated money in its 2022-23 state budget for major investments affecting dentistry and oral health and six more dental updates involving the state that Becker's has reported since Aug. 2:
1. Khuong Nguyen, DDS, a pediatric dentist who was accused of performing unnecessary procedures, appears to have closed his practice, Clairemont Pediatric Dental in San Diego.
2. California is the state with the highest number of active dentists and the most dental shortage areas, according to data from the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
3. David Webb, DDS, who practices at Northern California Facial and Oral Surgery in Vacaville, will be able to continue practicing dentistry after facing sexually assault accusations.
4. Western Dental added offices in Colton and Yucaipa.
5. The Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine in Pomona appointed Elizabeth Andrews, DDS, as its new dean.
6. MB2 Dental added My Dental Office of Beverly Hills to its network.
