Domenick Zero, DDS, was recently given the 2022 Norton M. Ross Award for Excellence in Clinical Research by the American Dental Association.
Dr. Zero is a professor in the department of cariology, operative dentistry and dental public health at the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis.
The ADA award recognizes researchers who have made significant contributions in clinical investigations that have advanced the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of craniofacial, oral and dental diseases.
Dr. Zero's research covered several aspects of dental caries, including dietary and microbial virulence factors, risk assessment and clinical methods for early caries detection, according to an Aug. 12 news release.
He is also conducting studies on temporomandibular joint disorders and Sjögren's syndrome. He has received more than $30 million in research grants, published more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and book chapters and authored more than 200 abstracts.
