The American Dental Association urged two federal organizations to make moves benefiting oral health in the U.S., and two other federal government updates dating back to Aug. 4:
1. The HRSA's Advisory Committee on Training in Primary Care Medicine released a report researching the benefits of dental therapy on the oral healthcare of underserved communities.
2. The American Dental Association asked Congress to make changes to the VA Workforce Improvement, Support and Expansion Act of 2022, or WISE Act, to increase support for the Department of Veterans Affairs' dental workforce.
3. The American Dental Association joined 27 organizations calling on the FDA to ban menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars in the U.S.
4. The Biden administration on Aug. 4 declared the nation's monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency.
