E. Dianne Rekow, DDS, PhD, a leader in the development of digital dentistry and board member at Henry Schein, has died.
Dr. Rekow was a member of the medical and dental supplier's board of directors since 2014, according to an Aug. 11 news release.
She is credited as being a leader of aesthetic and restorative dentistry and an early pioneer of digital dentistry, holding several patents and having led research on the use of bio-engineered tissue to facilitate bone replacement in people disfigured by disease or developmental defects.
Dr. Rekow was a professor emeritus and fellow of King's College London, where she served as the executive dean of its dental school and as a professor of orthodontics from 2012 to 2016. She was also a former orthodontics professor at New York University in New York City, where she also served as senior vice provost of engineering technology and provost of its Polytechnic Institute. Additionally, she was a senior scholar at Sante Fe Group, an organization dedicated to improving oral health, and a past president of the International Association for Dental Research and the American Association of Dental Research.
