Michael Lozman, DDS, was recently appointed July 1 to the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad by President Joe Biden.
Dr. Lozman practices at Lozman Orthodontics in Latham, N.Y. He is a past professor of the orthodontics department at the New York University School of Dentistry in New York City. His past leadership positions include president of the New York State Society of Orthodontics and a member of the board of governors for the New York State Dental Society.
In 2001, Dr. Lozman started a nonprofit that brings college students to Eastern Europe to restore Jewish cemeteries. The organization has so far restored fifteen Jewish cemeteries, according to a July 1 news release. He also founded the Capital District Jewish Holocaust Memorial to develop a Holocaust memorial in the Albany, N.Y. region.
The U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad works to identify and protect cemeteries, monuments and historic buildings in Europe that are significant to U.S. citizens.
