Here are seven dental organizations who have made or received donations, awards or grants that Becker's reported on since June 6; the amounts total $7,690,000:
1. Medical device company Align Technology celebrated its 25th anniversary by making a $250,000 donation to Junior Achievement Worldwide.
2. The New York University College of Dentistry in New York City received a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration for nearly $1.5 million.
3. Mission, Kan.-based Concorde Career Colleges partnered with Effingham, Ill.-based Heartland Dental to award $40,000 in scholarships to training dental hygienists.
4. Stephen Thorne, CEO of Irvine, Calif.-based DSO Pacific Dental Services, and his wife, Pamela Thorne, donated $4 million to Stockton, Calif.-based University of the Pacific to launch a teaching and patient care facility.
5. The University of Buffalo (N.Y.) School of Dental Medicine received a $550,000 donation from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation.
6. The Cleft and Craniofacial Program at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn., received a $1.075 million donation from the Smile180 foundation.
7. Align Technology awarded $275,000 in grants to 10 universities worldwide to support research in orthodontic treatment.
