The New York University College of Dentistry in New York City received a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration for nearly $1.5 million.
The grant was given to the school to prepare dental and dental hygiene students to serve underserved populations, such as people with disabilities and expectant mothers, according to a June 22 news release. The initiative is contained in the school's Preparing the Future program.
The funding also will support the school's Bringing Smiles Dental Enrichment Program, which aims to help underrepresented students succeed in dental school.
