Several dental companies saw increases in total revenue and sales during the first quarter of 2022, while one saw a net loss of $73 million.
Seven notes on how dental companies performed during the first quarter of 2022:
1. Sonendo reported $9 million in revenue for the first quarter of 2022, a 22 percent increase compared to last year's first quarter.
2. Georgetown, Texas-based Smile Doctors added eight practices to its network.
3. SmileDirectClub brought in $152 million in revenue, a 20.1 percent increase from the fourth quarter of 2021 but a 24 percent decrease compared to the first quarter of 2021. It also saw a net loss of $73 million.
4. ZimVie, Zimmer Biomet's spine and dental spinoff, saw a 6.4 percent increase in dental sales, earning $120.6 million.
5. Envista saw $631.4 million in first quarter sales compared to $612.6 million in the first quarter sales in 2021.
6. Henry Schein saw $1.8 billion in total global dental sales in the first quarter, a 2.2 percent increase from the prior-year period. Total North American dental sales hit $1.1 billion, a 5.7 percent increase from the prior-year period.
7. Align Technology brought in $973.2 million in first quarter revenue, compared to $894.8 million during the first quarter of 2021.
