The American Dental Education Association has initiated an effort to increase the number of men of color in healthcare.
The organization will host a series of events aimed at developing solutions to the lack of men of color in the academic health professions, according to a May 10 news release.
The initiative is supported by a $50,000 donation from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a public health-focused charity.
The ADEA's first event was held March 20 and included a panel of academicians, healthcare professionals and other leaders. The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 10 and 11, where attendees will create a mission statement and a strategic plan in support of men of color working in healthcare and identify three top priorities to implement.
