Chicago area dentists are collecting supplies to support oral surgeons in Ukraine amid the country's conflict with Russia, the Chicago Dental Society said March 18.
Andrew Browar, DDS, and Taisa Browar, DDS, sent a letter to the Chicago Dental Society asking for assistance getting the word out about the donation collection.
The two dentists noted that while a large amount of material and financial donations have been sent to Ukraine, there is a shortage of cranio-maxillofacial trauma equipment, and oral surgeons in the area are requesting additional supplies.
The list of needed medical supplies includes bandages, sponges, surgical instruments and saline.
More than 10 tons of supplies have already been collected and are awaiting shipment at a warehouse in Bensenville, Ill., the two dentists said. The items will be shipped to Poland and then distributed to hospitals in Ukraine by the Ukrainian Medical Association of North America.
