The permit to build an outpatient dental surgery center in Jacksonville, Fla., has been approved, the Jacksonville Daily Record reported March 16.
The facility, Lakeside Dental Surgery Center, will cost $3 million to build and will be 7,825 square feet.
Andrew Weaver, president of Lakeside Dental Management, told the Jacksonville Daily Record that he expects 80 percent of the patients treated in the new surgery center to be Medicaid beneficiaries.
The facility will have four operating rooms and will provide dental care to pediatric patients and patients with special needs.
"What makes this surgery center unique from facilities in Orlando, Tampa and Miami is that pediatric anesthesiologists will be staffed to perform the general anesthesia, and the facility will open its credentialing process to all pediatric dentists and dental specialists in the region so they can utilize the facility to treat their own patients," Mr. Weaver told the Jacksonville Daily Record.
The permit was approved March 9, and the center is expected to open in fall 2022.
