2. The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor was granted the most funds in 2020, totaling $20,235,326.
3. The top five dental schools to receive NIH funding are The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, the University of California San Francisco, the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and the University of Florida in Gainesville.
4. The lowest amount awarded in 2020 was $52,663 to Howard University in Washington, D.C.

In January, the NIH's National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research released concepts it was interested in supporting, which included oral health data analysis and statistical methodology development, early detection research for head and neck cancer, and establishment of a network dedicated to temporomandibular disorder research.
